My Professor

My new general elective (cross faculty module la) is ARTISTIC EXPRESSION le. Never thought i had it in me right? But i tell u all 老娘偶很有气质 地 ok!!!!! 难道你们看不出偶全身散发出耀眼的艺术气息吗? 眼睛"怕叫" ah! Anyway enough of the bull shit, i know u all dun believe me anyway. The point is that my professor is so ermm.. different i would say.
I didnt attend the first 2 days of the course cos e exams just finish le, how can u expect me to wake up at 7.30 in the morning to go to school le? On the third day went to school. Reached at ten, professor came at eleven. Apparently she changed the time to 1030 and didnt tell the ones who didnt go on the first and second day ( Quite a number of people didnt know of the change ) So why didnt she inform us of the changes le when most professors and tutors inform their students by email when they change class schedules. We cant really her cos she dint noe we weren't there as she did not mark attendance like she was suppose to. The fourth day some of the students came at eleven. Why? Cos apparently she didnt notice that the number of students boomed on the third day and thought all her students knew about the change and thus didnt tell us again. And the students thought it was 11 cos the teacher herself came at eleven, half an hour late. Well i tried to forgive her for being late cos maybe there was some emergency but ermmm she was late everyday for all of all lectures. Yesterday she told us, " Class, i am going to change the time of the class on next tuesday to 2 pm but i am going to be late. U all must forgive me cos i am not a very time person. If i do not come, do not give up and leave for I WILL COME! " Wha piang also dun noe what to say when she is so honest about her own shortcomings.
When professors take their papers out of their bags, most would take out files filled neatly with all the stuff. My professor grabs a bunch of papers, crumpled and yellow out of her bag. And of course her papers are not in order. HAHA, how come like me one and she is a female le. This shows that messy people like me are artistic.
Often the next thing she says is," k, now i would go do my slides. " Ten minutes later she would finish filing up the circular projector with all the slide pictures. Finally we start our lesson but hey how come half the pictures are upside down, left to right and some have two slide projected at the same time on the screen. Its is really weird to look at the " Mona Lisa " from the left to the right and the funny thing is my teacher said," well that is the right side isnt it? " And the explanation of the Last Supper was absolutely brilliant. My teacher looks at eh Last Supper and said," I know this painting rather well, let me explain the details. Jesus in the centre is saying "one of u is going to betray me tonight", this follower here says "oh gosh, this isnt true" this say" i dun believe it" this guy is asking this guy, "what is he saying" , this guy replies," i dun noe, i cant hear" And there is a glass of wine here some where, let me see...... Ermm i dun see a glass of wine.. Hmmmm hey i dun think there was a glass of wine, i think there was just a glass, let me see.... ehhhhh. " Well eh it is hard to believe she knows this painting well. On first look of the Last Supper, it is quite suprising to find that there is a female in there physically so close to the guy beside her. I was thinking religious painting, how come the 2 stand so close together. My teacher says," i looked at this painting many times and i never noticed this female all the years until some book of theory mentioned it" URM, not surprising she didnt notice it. Except for these small screw ups, she is quite informative and knowledgeable, telling us a lot of interesting things about art history though u do wonder some time whether she really noes what she is talking about. Basically artworks from the renaissance (dun noe how to spell) period is mostly of a religious theme. They always paint scenes from the bible. But because minds were more open in that period with the church having less power and the economy opening up, people were able mentally and financialy to accept changes like the infusion of greek mythological figures and beliefs in the art. Therefore its really like storytelling in class with the teacher telling us about bible stories and greek mythology and social issues in the different eras. And we also watched movies related to art which is quite interesting. Can come crash my class. My teacher wont notice, guarantee.

And Michaelangelo is real funny. This man is obsessed with the human body. There is no sexual element involved with his obsession, he just thinks that the human is a wonderful beautiful creation and wants to capture the beauty forever in paintings and sculpture. Well more specifically, he admires the male body. So in his painting of the Holy Family, even 圣母mary has muscles while baby jesus looks like he has been in the gym all day. Interesting to see the personal influence of the artist on the painting. And he makes me think of peipei for he took 13 years to finish painting the ceiling of the Saint Peter Catherdral. And once after Florence managed to defeat Milan in a war, Micheal was asked to carve a monument to mark the moment of victory. Michael agreed and sets out to look for a piece of marble. You would think he would just take days to find one, but no he took months to find the marble he preferred and later took around 3 years to finish the sculpture. The people kept hurrying him dying to see the sculpture that would symbolise their victory but he didnt care. Well by the time he finish the triumph of victory already diminished until nothing was left and maybe can fight another war liao. ANd in those days when the life expectancy was like 40, he still so slow. But then his sculpture, "David" was the most handsome man of western civilisation so pei pei u slow in art also never mind, its the quality that counts.
