whoa wee
Ya ha ha, art exam finally finish liao. Phew. The past year questions were difficult but WHOA WEE the exam i had today was quite okay. I think can get B and the 2500 word art essay assignment i completed is the essay i am most confident of out of all the essays i ever wrote in NTU ( the ob and law essays i have written sucks like hell). Whoa ho and to think i never write any notes at all in class. Actually art lecture is quite an enjoyment, writing notes in lectures seems to spoil the whole thing. k la actually i am just being lazy. But still i am amazed at the number of people writing notes diligently in the darkness (we listen to the lecture mostly in darkness cos have to view art slides from the projector) COS really i find that even though my professor is Doctor blah blah, she dun really present the paintings properly enough and her viewpoints can be biased sometimes. But then she was still rather successful in helping us gain an interest in art appreciation. Her role is more of like opening the door to the art world for us while the exploring is really our own personalised journey WHICH MEANS THAT HER NOTES ARE REALLY BARE AND SCANTILY CLAD and we have to do our own research in order to pass the exam!!!!!!! But then, research itself and studying for the exam is relaxing and interesting. Overall art appreciation is really enjoyableFor example, one of the art trends we studied was Dadaism. Actually the word dada might not have any meaning, it is prehaps a made up word. After the first world war, this art trend arose. The dadaist purpose was to portray the absurdity of mankind in their art. The greeks said that "Man is the measure of all things" and that we are the superior species because we operate by REASON yet with all our crapping on how great we are and with all our values and stuff, atrocities were commited and ten million people were killed in the world war. The dadaists felt that it was pointless to find order and meaning in this world where the so called RATIONAL behavior only brought mass destruction so they sought to shock people into seeing the absurdity of the western world's social and political situation through their art which was unthinkably ridiculous. That was when the painting L.H.O.O.Q was produced. This painting is simply Mona LIsa with a penciled beard and goatee while L.H.O.O.Q is a vulgar french pun that means " she is hot in the ass" This outrageous artist who poked fun at one of the world most revered painting wanted to shock and shake people out of a pattern of unthinkable acceptance of cultural values. He feels that only when these narrow minded traditional values are overtured can we rebuilt the world again. This painting is a reflection of mankind. Thats from my notes, so interesting right, just like studying xiao shuo like that with all those social critisim.
