A visit to the orthodontics
I have been planning for some time to do braces, n have been searching for a good dentist for months since i got here in Australia. I already set my heart on a doctor months ago but yesterday was finally the day i managed to gather up my courage and picked up the phone to make an appointment with an orthodontics (braces specialist).Wah... the doctor i picked must be really really good. He practiced at 2 location. One is near my place n the other one quite far away. Back to my story, i called for an appointment for the one near my house.. n was told that the next available time is on the 18 August!!!! Ha? that is in almost 2 mths time!!! Then i asked about the availability to see the doctor at the other place n was told that for the other place, the available time is on the 28July.. Sigh... not much difference ya.. still have to wait for 1 month... Anyway, i made an appointment for July. Luckily, later that evening, they called and say that someone cancelled and i could see the doctor the next day (which is today).
Ok... i could not sleep the whole night man... me really scared of dentist... u know y? last year ya, during the looooong break after 'a' level,i went to an orthodontics in indonesia. Alamak.. the dentist looked at my teeth and said that it is the most horrible set of teeth he has ever seen!!! He even said that for my case, i might have to use a special head gear everyday to correct the teeth position. Omg.... really depressing.... i donno wat kind of head gear he meant, but the thought of going everywhere in some kind of helmet everyday really really make me miserable and sad.... Might as well pluck all my teeth and put neat, white fake teeth there to save me the embarrassment of wearing a head gear for abt 2 yrs....
Back to my visit story... yeah, i was scared that this dentist i was going to see would say the same things again... Anyway, today's visit.. the dentist asked me what i hope to get from an orthodontics treatment? Huh? isn't the answer obvious? i thought people who put on braces of course wants a beautiful, neat set of teeth right?? Anyway, after examining my teeth, he suggested JAW SURGERY...
Faint...It is a major surgery (1-5 hrs).. after that can only eat liquid food for another few weeks also... The reason he suggested that is because my lower jaw is slightly more in front than the upper one and a bit to the right also... Wah... complicating man..... It would be sooo sooo sad case if i have to take the surgery.. I cannot imagine going through a surgery without my family by my side... n who is going to take care of me after the surgery? Who is going to make all the liquid food for me? it would be sooo sooo sad if i have to make my own food when i'm recuperating right?
Anyway, i asked the dentist if it is possible to fix my teeth without surgery. Yes... he said it can be done. but one tooth must be extracted and the effect wont be as good as surgery... One of his last comment was that my teeth is a difficult/complicated case....
Hahaha.... this doctor must be 10000000 times better than the one i saw in indo ya.... although his comment about my teeth still hurt my tiny fragile heart, this time i know that he can do a good job of fixing my teeth without any kind of head gear...
Right now... i'm still thinking of wheter to take up the surgery...
